A Coffee House Engagement Session, Wedding Photographer in Spokane

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Kellen for our engagement shoot. I had met with Kasi before and knew we’d work great together, but knowing Kellen was in a band on one hand-and on the other hand he was quiet during our wedding consultation, I just didn’t know if he was going to need me to warm him up for the shoot or tame him down.

I can’t tell you thru a keyboard how perfect he was to photograph!! You put Kasi and Kellen together in the frame, and you just get beautiful magic. They know how to move well, they know what mood we are trying to set and best of all, they know how to laugh. Watching these two interact was simply entertaining and helped me love my job even more.

We began our engagement session at the Rockwood Bakery on the south hill in Spokane, WA then moved down the street to Manito Park where we played in the evening sun to get dramatic lighting, sun flares, and romantic moments. Once again, loved this shoot and love this couple. CANNOT wait for their wedding in July!!!!

Thank you two for such a great night and all the laughs! See you in a couple of weeks!!

A Sunny High Country Orchard Wedding, Photographer in Spokane

What an amazingly gorgeous day we had on May 12th!! I know I’m not the only one at the wedding who realized at 5:00 that I should have applied sunscreen, but hey, it set a great base for my farmer’s tan.

I met Kayla at the bridal fair then again at our consultation. When she told me she was getting married at High Country Orchard at Greenbluff in Spokane, WA, my first thought and image I had pop in to my head was hanging her wedding dress in the orchard suspended in the middle of the row between blossoming trees. I had no idea how to do it, or if there would even be blossoms at that time of year, but I was excited about my idea! When we had our final venue walk through 2 weeks before the wedding, there was a small hint of blossoms about to burst open, and when I arrived the morning of the wedding and saw more than a dozen of blossomed trees, I was so excited I could have danced. Needless to say, the first photos I took that morning were of her white dress hanging on rope in the aisle of cherry trees. I couldn’t resist continuing the detail shots! Her bouquet was incredible!!! It was a combination of pink roses, peonies, hydrangeas, dahlias and more. Terry (Coulee Creek Florals) frosted the bouquet off with a sprinkle of diamonds…outstanding job!

Aside from the beautiful details of this wonderfully planned wedding, it was a very moving celebration of two families joining. There was so much joyful emotion, I couldn’t help from smiling throughout the entire day. From the energy while putting Kayla in her dress, to Matt and Kayla’s anticipation of seeing each other for the first time, and the celebratory dances at the reception–I could see and feel how much these two families loved each other and how happy they were to be uniting.

I said it before I left that night, and I will say it again, “Job well done Salts and Carstens family for putting together such a well-planned, smooth, easy and gorgeous wedding.”

Thank you Kayla, Matt and both families for allowing me to help you capture your perfect day!!

A DIY Coeur d’Alene Wedding by a Spokane Photographer

Never have I seen family and friends pull such a beautiful wedding together in such a short amount of time. I met with Evy a week before her wedding to do our final venue walk through at The Eagles Lodge in Coeur d’Alene, ID. The lodge had plenty of space, but it just didn’t call out “Beautiful weddings happen here!” so needless to say, I was skeptical when Evy said she could jazz it up with some tulle and lights. I parted with Evy that afternoon crossing my fingers that she had the time and talent to build the wedding she had in mind.

When I stepped into the lodge that Sunday morning, I was barely noticed by all of the people buzzing around hanging paper flowers, stringing lights, and taking down the lodge’s old framed pictures. I saw moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles and friends rushing to tweak the last few touches before they tended to themselves. I was amazed! This was no longer The Eagles Lodge, this was Evy’s vision coming to life!!! It takes a very special family with lots of love, and an even more special bride and groom to create such a beautiful wedding out of nothing.

Thank you Evy and Pat for such a fun-filled day and allowing me to help capture wedding-day! I hope these images help you remember your day exactly how it unfolded and that your memories last a lifetime.

Welcome Newborn Ruby!!, Photographer in Spokane

I had the pleasure of snapping Ruby’s newborn photos when she was just 6 days old!!! She was so perfect and cuddly, I had a hard time picking her up and moving her in fear to disturb and wake her up.

She allowed me to move, manipulate, mold her and even place her inside of a bucket which made the cutest newborn photo ever!

Big sister Violet (did you notice the matching Big Sister and Little Sister shirts?) was so curious as to what I was doing with her new baby, and quite curious why I kept changing her clothes and headbands. She wanted to help sooo badly and kept asking what she could do and when!! She was too cute for words, its always a pleasure to hold a conversation with Violet. I can tell she is going to be the best big sister to baby Ruby!

Thank you guys for welcoming me into your home to help you capture Ruby’s precious beginnings!!

Kayla’s High School Cheer and Track Portraits, Photographer in Spokane

Kayla was my Central Valley High School senior portrait model last year and did an AMAZING job for me! When she let me know that she wanted to meet up in the spring for more pictures in her cheer uniform and on the track, I was super excited because I knew we’d get some gorgeous photos once again.

We started outside in the grass, but the wind was blowing so much that we decided to head inside. Which I am so glad we did! We got to play around with lighting and got some pretty cool shots in the abandoned hallways.

We then headed out to the track where the sun was blazing without a cloud in sight, which is always tough for a photographer because of the harsh shadows on faces. There was no way of hiding from the sun, so we blasted Kayla with my flash and got some pretty cool and creative photos.

Spokane Urban Family Shoot

Mom saw one of my high school senior photo shoots at Barrister Winery’s green door and insisted we take her family portraits there. So we walked the streets and alleys of downtown Spokane and came up with these super cute urban shots!

I loved the fact that Grandma came along to take some special photos with her special little grandbaby!

A Little Girl-Glitter Family Photos in Spokane

I met Brandy during the Capture A Memory/Picture A Cure fundraiser that we both participated in last year. We had a great time together photographing just her, which I believe was the first time since high school that she had done that. She had such a great experience and loved her photos, that she promised me she would be contacting me again for a family session.

And that she did! We headed out Saturday to Mirabeau Point Park in Spokane Valley with her two young daughters. The highlight of the shoot for the girls was the glitter they brought along. The youngest had a tough time standing still and taking hundreds of photos (which of course is expected) but all Mom had to do was remind her of the glitter and she smiled right up!

We headed to the field, took a few shots with the mountains and fluffy clouds popping in the sky then finally allowed the girls to blow glitter in the wind. Even though I took out my big lens and backed away as far as I could, it just so happened that as soon as the girls blew the glitter, the wind picked up and covered me in a big cloud of sparkle. We all looked silly with glitter all over our faces and hair—I am still finding glitter on my camera!

Thank you for the great day at the park ladies!! Can’t wait to do it again!
